In a bid to support the fight against the deadly Coronavirus presently ravaging the world, management and staff of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) has on Friday 17th April, 2020 commissioned 50 hand washing equipment, trash bean, tissues and soaps at their head office at Hill Station, in Freetown.
Delivering his key note address whilst officially launching the aforementioned hand washing equipment, Abass Salieu Kamara Esq, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication, who deputised the Deputy Minister of the MIC, Madam Mamadi Ngobeh Kamara, had this to say and I quote “I would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks and appreciation for everything including your donations to help the government and the people of this nation fight this novel Coronavirus, aka COVID-19” he maintains.
Adding, “The Government, the Ministry and the people of this country are truly humbled by the incredible support and generosity the National Telecommunications Commission has shown in so many different ways to add value, importance to the entirety of efforts the government is exerting to curb the scourge” he paraphrased. Noting; “In this connection, we need other leading institutions to join the fight by making donations of this nature to augment the efforts of government and to assist less privilege communities all over this country”.
Similar statements were made by the representative of the Emergency Operational Center, (EOC) Mr. Emmanuel Abiochum and Mr. Abdul Ben Foday, who moderate the launching ceremony.
In their closing courtesies, Mr. Daniel M. Kaitibi, Director General – NATCOM and his Deputy, Mr. Amara Brewah says, their donation on behalf of the institution is born out of their passion to serve humanity and commitment to the call and resilience of His Excellency the President, Ministers of Government, Medical Practitioners, Technicians and Cleaners in the front line of the battle against the pandemic and Sierra Leoneans in entirety.
